Tošč is a hill in Slovenia, part of so-called Polhograjsko gorovje. With an altitude of 1021 m.a.s.l. it is the highest peak in the mentioned region, but that was not always the case. Tošč became the highest peak in this, little less “mountain” and more “hills” range, decades ago. Once, the honor of highest peak belonged to a hill Pasja ravan, with an altitude of approx. 1030 m.a.s.l. From the top, on which there are few benches and a box with a stamp, view toward west opens. Due to the forest, the view is not as spectacular, but still, Tošč is a beautiful hiking destination.
Interesting fact: Decades ago JNA (Yugoslav National Army) lowered the hill “Pasja Raven” by 9 or 10 meters, thus making Tošč higher by a meter or so. That is how Tošč became the highest peak in Polhograjsko gorovje.
