My hiking trails were leading to a beautiful hill above the city of Škofja Loka. What caught my eye on the route, besides all the nature and beautiful day, was this little church.
If you go right to the village of Podpulferca, you’ll soon see the church of St. Lovrenc. The church stands on the Mount of Sv. Lovrenc, which is 608 m.a.s.l., but the little church is at an altitude of 550 m.a.s.l. on the steep slope above town Zminec. According to the frescoes discovered within the church, historians estimate that this idyllic church is here from the early 15th century.
In 1824, an lightning struck burned it. At that time, the previous wooden ceiling was replaced by a cement.
