Blegoš – The second highest peak in the Škofja Loka mountain (hills) range.
With an altitude of 1562 m.a.s.l., Blegoš is 104 meters shorter than a Ratitovec, which has an altitude of 1666 m.a.s.l. Blegoš is a beautiful hill, that’s missing just a few hundred meters to be a full-grown mountain.
From the summit of Blegoš, spectacular 360° view opens and you can clearly see Julian Alps, Kamniško-Savinjske Alps, Karavanke mountain range, and Polhograjsko hribovje (hills). About hundred meters below the summit, there is also a lovely mountain lodge.
There are many bunkers on Blegoš, dating back to 1930′ of previous century. Bunkers are a part of so-called Rupnik’ line (Rupnikova linija) and served as a defense line against Italian attacks. Črni Kal is the highest starting point for the ascent to Blegoš, which makes the described route quite popular on weekends.
Fact: Mountain lodge has defibrillator!
Let me help you find the path.
Starting point is exact location at which I started hiking trip. Usually it is parking lote. Please note, that my hiking trips are never close because I like to explore. If you want to get closer to the goal, use my starting point as a reference in maps and you can chose something closer to the destination. Sometimes I walk few kilometers, but sometimes even 10 or 12 km in one directon.
